German envoy calls on KP CM; discusses development cooperation, regional stability

PESHAWAR, Oct 31 (APP): Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany to Pakistan, Ina Ruth Luise Lepel here on Friday called on Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi at Chief Minister House.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Jan Gerald Krausser, First Secretary at German Embassy Islamabad, said a news release issued here.
During the meeting, the German Ambassador congratulated the CM on assuming his new responsibilities and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality. She also highlighted the ongoing areas of collaboration between Germany and KP Government.
The CM thanked the Ambassador for continued partnership and emphasized that KP government is pursuing a forward-looking development agenda focused on resilience, economic revival and institutional reform. He noted that while the province has faced natural and security challenges in recent years, the government has continued to move forward with resilience and reform.
Highlighting priorities in the merged districts, the KP CM said that government was advancing key projects in education, health and infrastructure to bring the region at par with the rest of the province. He shared plans to establish a state-of-the-art university in the merged districts focusing on applied sciences and technical education to meet market demands.
The German Ambassador acknowledged the province’s efforts and appreciated the presence of German alumni teaching at the University of Peshawar, noting that these individuals represent a positive link between the two nations.
On regional matters, the CM briefed the Ambassador on the situation along the Pak-Afghan border emphasizing the importance of peace and dialogue for regional stability. He reiterated that KP government remains committed to humanitarian values in managing the repatriation of Afghan nationals and ensuring their dignified return.
The meeting ended with both the CM and German envoy expressing optimism about deepening cooperation and building on the long-standing friendship between KP and Germany.
