LAHORE, Nov 21 (APP): The five-day Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) capacity building conference successfully concluded at the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) headquarters on Friday.
The closing ceremony was attended by Rongvudhi Virabutr, Ambassador of Thailand, delegates from ASEAN countries, representatives from the Foreign Office, and other senior officials.
During the conference, participants received detailed briefings and training lectures on AI-based policing, data security, smart surveillance, and other advanced security modules. Live demonstrations of Smart Safe City models and operational modules were also conducted. ASEAN delegates highly appreciated the modern systems, AI-based solutions, and citizen-centric services implemented by PSCA.
On the final day, a special panel discussion was held on human rights, ethical boundaries of surveillance, public health, and smart cities, attended by police officials, technical experts, overseers, and officers from the Department of Ombudsman.
MD PSCA Muhammad Ahsan Yunus said the conference has opened new avenues for technology and security cooperation between Pakistan and ASEAN countries. Chief Operating Officer Mustansar Feroz added that the capacity building programme would further improve policing, data security, and emergency response. Participants emphasised that the Smart Safe City model has significantly enhanced crime prevention and response times in Punjab.
Certificates were awarded to ASEAN delegates on the successful completion of the five-day programme. The closing ceremony was also attended by Additional IG Operations Punjab Muhammad Ali Nikookara, Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrol Humayun Bashir Tarar, DIG Technical Procurement Punjab Kamran Adil, Federal Ombudsman Fauzia Waqar, DG National Cyber Emergency Response Dr. Haider Abbas, and other senior officials.
The conference is expected to serve as a major milestone in promoting technology sharing, security integration, and mutual cooperation in the region.
