Excise Police Mardan Region seize illegal, hazardous medicines

PESHAWAR, Dec 17 (APP):The Excise Police of Mardan Region on Wednesday carried out a major operation against illegal and hazardous medicines, resulting in the recovery of a large quantity of unapproved and harmful pills.
The operation was conducted in line with the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy and on the special directives of the Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jahan.
The Excise Department continues to conduct successful anti-narcotics and anti-illegal drug operations on a daily basis, while maintaining close coordination with other institutions under the illegal spectrum to ensure public safety.
In this regard, Imad Khan, SHO of Excise Police Station Mardan Region, along with his team, foiled an attempt to smuggle illegal and hazardous medicines. During an operation near Rashakai Interchange, a search of an Alto motor car led to the recovery of a large quantity of various types of illegal, harmful and prohibited pills.
One suspect was arrested on the spot, while the recovered medicines and the accused were handed over to the Drug Regulatory Authority for further investigation and legal action. A case has been registered accordingly.
Officials stated that the recovered medicines were neither approved by the Drug Regulatory Authority nor did they carry any authentic record regarding their composition, manufacturing details, expiry dates, or possible side effects.
According to the Excise Department, the seized prohibited pills posed serious potential health risks.
