MUZAFFARGARH, Nov 26 (APP):Electric wheelchairs and assistive devices were distributed to 124 persons with disabilities at a ceremony held in the District Council Hall under the supervision of the Social Welfare Department.
Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education Sardar Ajmal Khan Chandia attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that persons with disabilities were close to the heart of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has taken major initiatives for their welfare. He added that the Punjab government will continue its support for them.
Deputy Director Social Welfare Chaudhry Azhar Yousaf said the distribution was carried out on the instructions of the Chief Minister, with special focus on people from flood-affected areas. He noted that 520 applications from Muzaffargarh were received and all were approved.
Participants thanked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her commendable steps toward improving the lives of persons with disabilities.
