KARACHI, Jul 28 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Monday emphasized that education is the key to the development of any country and society, calling it a powerful tool through which nations progress.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony here at the Federal Government Public School Karachi Cantonment.
Highlighting the importance of education, the minister noted that students studying at Cantt Public School mostly belong to the middle and lower middle classes and their education will enable them to play a vital role in the country’s development.
“Education is the secret behind a nation’s success,” he said and reiterated that our national identity is our homeland. Nations without a homeland can never have assured freedom.”
Referring to the humanitarian crises in Gaza and situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir, Iqbal said, “The brutalities there bring tears of blood to our eyes.”
Speaking on national defense, he praised the bravery of Pakistan’s armed forces, stating, “Our valiant military foiled enemy attacks, and during Operation Bunyanum-Marsoos, they made India see stars in broad daylight.”
He further added, “Pakistan, which once struggled with limited resources, is now the seventh nuclear power in the world. Just as we defeated India on the battlefield, we will also raise our flag in the field of economy.”
Iqbal shared his personal journey, saying, “I don’t come from a feudal or capitalist background. It is because of education that I am sitting today in the federal cabinet, making decisions for the country’s planning.”
Addressing the students, he encouraged them to pursue education with dedication, assuring them that they too could contribute significantly to the nation’s progress.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the school, the federal minister was warmly welcomed. The school administration also briefed him about the institution’s educational activities and developments.
