KHANEWAL, Feb 03 (APP): District Police Officer (DPO) Ismail Kharrak directed officers concerned to launch a comprehensive and indiscriminate crackdown against kite flying and kite selling be continued across the district.
Presiding over a meeting which was attended by SP Investigation Jan Muhammad, SDPOs, SHOs, security officials and other police officers.
He announced that special motorcycle squads will patrol every street, while police officers will ensure effective surveillance within their respective jurisdictions. Awareness campaigns will be launched in schools and colleges, and announcements will be made in mosques and madrassas to discourage kite-related activities.
The DPO termed kite flying a dangerous and life-threatening practice, stressing that it was a serious crime and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators without any leniency.
He urged citizens to stay away from this hazardous activity and report kite flying or selling to Police Helpline 15, assuring complete confidentiality of informants.
The DPO reaffirmed his resolve to eliminate this deadly trend from Khanewal.
He also directed coordination with relevant departments to cover open manholes, ensure lighting at under-construction buildings, strengthen crime control measures, manage traffic during school and college hours, and promote courteous public dealing at police stations.
