District administration removes illegal structures over drain in DI Khan

Dera Ismail Khan , Apr 01 (APP):The district administration has launched a comprehensive anti-encroachment operation in the city aimed at clearing roads, markets and public spaces of illegal obstructions.

The operation was supervised by Assistant Commissioner Syed Arsalan, while Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Muhammad Hanif, under whose directives the campaign is being carried out, deputed Encroachment Incharge Fahad Khan Saddozai along with his team in the field. Additional Tehsil Officer (Regulation) Muhammad Aqeel also monitored the proceedings.

During the operation, action was taken against illegal structures, including shops and houses built over a drainage channel from the backside of Liaquat Park up to the General Post Office (GPO). The encroachments were demolished and work to clear the drain was initiated.

According to the district administration, the occupants had been formally warned nearly two months ago, with markings placed on the illegal structures, directing them to remove the encroachments. However, several individuals failed to comply, prompting the authorities to take enforcement action.

Officials said that the encroachments over the drain were obstructing the drainage system and creating serious issues for residents, particularly during the rainy season. The operation, they added, was carried out in the larger public interest to ensure smooth drainage and prevent urban flooding.
