MULTAN, Oct 29 (APP):The district administration has intensified efforts to upgrade jail hospitals and improve medical facilities for inmates across Multan.
As part of this initiative, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Waseem Hamid Sindhu visited Central Jail Multan to review healthcare arrangements and inspect the medical services being provided to prisoners.
During his visit, the Deputy Commissioner examined various sections of the jail hospital, including wards and the medicine supply system. He directed the concerned staff to ensure uninterrupted and quality medical care for all inmates, emphasizing that negligence in healthcare provision would not be tolerated.
Later, DC Waseem Hamid Sindhu presided over a meeting of the Health Council to review the performance of the jail hospital, availability of medicines, and medical equipment. Officers from the Health Department, Jail Administration, and other relevant institutions attended the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed that medicines and essential medical equipment be supplied on a priority basis, stating that providing healthcare facilities to prisoners is a top priority of the Punjab government. He also stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness, ensuring the availability of medical staff, and keeping hospital equipment in working condition.
DC Sindhu reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to the welfare of inmates, saying that the upgradation of jail hospitals aims to provide better and timely treatment. He directed officials to develop a comprehensive plan to modernize jail hospitals in line with contemporary healthcare standards so that all prisoners can have access to quality medical services.
