SUKKUR, Nov 28 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shahzad Khan chaired a crucial meeting in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here Friday to review the preparations for the upcoming National Polio Eradication Campaign (December 15–21, 2025). The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bushra Mansoor, District Health Officer (DHO), Dr. Ali Gul Shah, Assistant Commissioners of New Sukkur, Saleh Pat, Rohri and Pano Aqil, Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Dr Waqar, focal persons for the polio campaign, officers from the Education and Police departments and representatives of social organizations.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur said the district administration is fully active to eradicate polio, a dangerous disease. He directed all Assistant Commissioners to remain in the field during the campaign, enhance monitoring, and immediately address any weakness or negligence. He clarified that the campaign will continue for seven days, during which focal persons, area in-charges and polio teams will have to perform their duties with full seriousness and responsibility.
He further said the campaign is being launched early to ensure children are administered polio drops in schools before the school holidays. He added that a daily evening meeting will be held, in which all concerned officials will be bound to present their daily performance reports.
DHO Sukkur, Dr. Waqar and Dr. Jamil Ahmed briefed the meeting, stating that training of polio teams has started from December 1 to eliminate any chance of negligence or shortfall during the campaign.
Finally, the meeting was informed that the results of samples taken in September came back negative, which is extremely gratifying and reassuring for the district. He also congratulated all polio teams on this important achievement.
