GUJRAT, Jun 02 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Safdar Hussain Virk chaired a meeting to review sanitation arrangements under the “Clean Punjab – Eid ul Azha 2025” campaign.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Khizar Hayat Bhatti and Afzal Hayat Tarar, Assistant Commissioners of Gujrat, Kharian, and Sarai Alamgir, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Khaliq Dad Gara, and officials from local councils and waste management companies.
The DC reviewed arrangements for timely waste collection, field monitoring, complaint camps, and overall cleanliness during Eid. He directed cancellation of staff holidays and strict implementation of plans at ward, union council, and village levels. Hourly monitoring and prompt clearance of animal waste were emphasized.Additional vehicles, including loader rickshaws, pickups, and dumpers, will be deployed. Rosewater spraying in streets and public areas is also planned.
Twenty-nine waste collection points have been set up in Gujrat and Kharian, covering 12 urban and 57 rural union councils. Over 2,500 sanitation workers and 422 machines have been mobilized across the district.Complaint camps are being established, and a central control room is being set up at the DC Office. Citizens can register complaints via helpline 1139 for swift redressal.The DC stressed inter-departmental coordination and third-party monitoring to ensure cleanliness as per CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s directives.
