DC reviews progress on ‘Suthra Punjab’ drive

GUJRAT, Jun 13 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Naveed Ahmed chaired a key meeting to review progress on the ‘Suthra Punjab’ initiative, launched under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to ensure cleanliness and a healthier environment across the province.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Khizar Hayat Bhatti, Assistant Commissioner Bilal Zubair, Chief Officer of Municipal Corporation Khaliq Dad Gara, Chief Officers of Municipal Committees, CEO of District Council Sajid Musharraf, Director of IRR Waste Management Waseem Asadullah, and Additional Director of Local Government Syed Naveed Haider.
Key focus areas included sanitation, drainage, removal of stray dogs, and beautification of green belts and central medians. The DC directed officials to immediately complete the cleaning of all drainage systems and inspect manhole covers for prompt replacement where needed.He emphasized the importance of intensified cleanliness operations in both urban and rural areas, improved control of stray animals, and regular washing of streets. Plantation and beautification efforts along medians and green belts were also stressed to improve the overall environment.
DC Ahmed called for strict monitoring of sanitation efforts, timely resolution of public complaints, and strengthened coordination among departments. “The Chief Minister’s vision is to provide a clean, green, and healthy environment for citizens. All departments must fulfill their responsibilities to make Gujarat a model district,” he said.
