RAWALPINDI, Oct 20 (APP):On the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam, the City Traffic Police’s Anti-Beggar Squad has intensified its operations against professional beggars across the city.
According to the in-charge of the Anti-Beggar Squad, Inspector Ghazi Waqar, as many as 128 professional beggars have been arrested this month, while 100 FIRs have been registered under the Vagrancy Act.
He revealed that over 80% of beggars in Rawalpindi are professional, of which 60% are physically fit, 20% are disabled, and another 20% are drug addicts. Most of them hail from various parts of Punjab, South Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh, and operate under an organized contractor system.

Commending the efforts of the Anti-Beggar Squad, CTO Farhan Aslam said that the professional beggars disrupts the smooth flow of traffic in the city. He directed all traffic wardens deployed at intersections to promptly inform the squad about such individuals to help eliminate this social menace.
