DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 09 (APP):The district administration Tank has launched crackdown against transporters who are overcharging passengers, following receiving public complaints.
In this regard, Additional Assistant Commissioner Tank, Malik Sajid Ali Khan, along with the in-charge traffic police, carried out inspections of vehicles on various roads.
According to the administration, during the crackdown, passengers were questioned regarding fares, which revealed that several drivers were charging amounts higher than the government-notified rates.
The administration ensured that the extra amount collected was refunded to passengers on the spot, while traffic police imposed fines on drivers found violating the rules.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Assistant Commissioner Malik Sajid Ali Khan said that strict implementation of government-approved fares would be ensured under all circumstances.
He warned that indiscriminate action would continue against drivers involved in overcharging and carrying extra passengers.
He added that the objective of these measures is to provide the public with safe, comfortable, and improved transport facilities.
Citizens were also urged to report cases of overcharging to the administration or traffic police.
