Crackdown intensified against elements causing environmental pollution

LAHORE, Oct 31 (APP): The Punjab Safe Cities Authority is conducting a strict crackdown against environmental polluters across the province.
To combat smog, Safe City is conducting surveillance on major highways using modern cameras and drones.
Safe Cities Authority sources told APP that reports were sent to the relevant agencies on completion of month October, regarding more than 6,000 polluters.
In addition, challans were issued to more than 2,500 vehicles emitting smoke. The sources further said that reports of those burning crop residues and garbage at 148 locations were sent to the relevant departments for action.
They said that the field force is being informed when cameras are seen setting fire and vehicles emitting smoke. Action is also being taken against vehicles spreading dust, mud, sand and other dirt on highways.
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has appealed to the citizens to play their role to get rid of the smog disaster, they added.
