MURREE, Jan 28 (APP): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi on Wednesday directed the contractor to complete the Mall Road façade up-lifting project by June 30 without compromising construction standards and warned of strict action in case of any delay.
DC Shirazi, accompanied by Director General of the Walled City Authority Lahore Najam Saqib, conducted a detailed inspection of the project and was briefed on its progress, quality and timelines.
He also directed lowering the height of walls at Nighat Zar Park at the request of traders to prevent any negative impact on business and tourism. The designated site for a new food street near Marhaba Chowk was also inspected.
Both the DC Murree and the DG Walled City Authority assured traders, including representatives of the Traders’ Association and Hotel Association, that their issues would be addressed promptly. They noted the project’s significance for promoting tourism and enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal, emphasising consultation with all stakeholders.
The Mall Road façade up-lift project, supervised by the Walled City Authority Lahore, involves repainting shop facades and signboards, moving hanging electric wires underground, and installing tuff tiles. The project also includes flower beds, greenery and designated seating areas to provide better facilities for tourists.
