Commissioner visit Lohari Gate, reviews Safe Basant arrangements

LAHORE, Feb 02 (APP): Commissioner Marryam Khan, along with Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Ali Ejaz, visited the Lohari Gate area to review Safe Basant arrangements, including sale point inspections, cleanliness operations, public awareness initiatives, and safety measures across the city.
During the visit, the commissioner inspected cleanliness conditions in the Lohari Gate area and reviewed the sale and monitoring of kites and kite string. She also examined the LESCO wire clamping operation being carried out outside Lohari Gate to ensure public safety.
On the occasion, Commissioner Marryam Khan said that awareness and safety campaigns regarding Basant laws were in full swing across the city, including the Walled City of Lahore. She said that the sale and purchase of kites would be allowed from February 1 to February 8, while strict checking would continue at all designated sale points.
She said that quick response teams, comprising officials from all relevant departments, had been fully activated across the city. Acting on the clear directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, she said that safety measures were being ensured in letter and spirit. She directed that a comprehensive cleanliness campaign be carried out with full efficiency in the Walled City and along the Circular Road.
The commissioner urged citizens to strictly follow Basant laws and the code of conduct, saying that compliance with regulations would help revive the cultural festival in a safe manner. Administrative officers also interacted with citizens during the visit and received positive feedback.
Deputy Commissioner Ali Ejaz said that metallic, nylon, and chemical-coated kite string (dor) remained strictly banned and warned that violations would invite severe action. He stressed that public cooperation was essential for ensuring a safe Basant and urged citizens to report violations to the authorities.
