Commissioner sought beautification proposals, tree audit

RAWALPINDI, Jun 13 (APP):Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak Thursday directed all districts to submit beautification project proposals within 48 hours and ordered a comprehensive review of tree plantation survival rates since 2019, during a Divisional Coordination Committee (DCC) meeting, held on Friday.
The Commissioner instructed Deputy Commissioners to personally inspect bus stands and ensure proper facilities for commuters, while directing administrators to utilize funds exclusively for passenger facilities. He also directed clearance of pending water charges as per Board of Revenue records.
Attended by Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hassan Waqar Cheema, Additional Commissioner Cooperation Syed Nazarat Ali, ADC General Hassan Tariq and department heads, the meeting was joined by DCs of Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Murree through video link.
The commissioner emphasized the environmental importance of plantations.
“These efforts combat pollution and create a healthier Pakistan for future generations,” he said.
The review will assess survival rates of trees planted since 2019 in compliance with High Court directives.
“Plantation is not only a source of beauty but it is very important for eliminating environmental pollution and establishing a clean and transparent environment”, he said while urging the citizens to take part in this campaign of national cause so that the future generations can be given lush and healthy Pakistan.
