PESHAWAR, Jan 15 (APP):Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud on Thursday convened an emergency meeting to launch a decisive operation against encroachments and to improve sanitation conditions across all five districts of the Peshawar Division.
The meeting was called in response to public complaints received during an online Facebook open court (Khuli Kachehri). Deputy Commissioners, District Police Officers, and concerned municipal officials from Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mohmand tribal district, and Khyber district will attend the session.
During the meeting, a comprehensive strategy will be finalized to remove illegal encroachments from major markets, main roads, intersections, and other key locations next week.
Heavy machinery will be used to clear obstacles that hinder traffic flow. Important decisions will also be taken to ensure sustainable improvements in cleanliness and sanitation.
Addressing additional complaints received through online comments, the commissioner issued immediate directives to relevant authorities regarding traffic management, installation of streetlights, issuance of arms and driving licenses, closure of unnecessary transport within Peshawar University, payment of honorariums to religious scholars, action against professional beggars, and disciplinary measures against negligent or incompetent government officials. Reports from all concerned departments have been sought within 24 hours.
Speaking directly to the public, Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud thanked citizens for their active participation in the open court and announced that such sessions would be held regularly every week.
He said that open courts would help bridge the gap between the public and the government, strengthen coordination, and pave the way for lasting solutions to public issues.
