GUJRANWALA, Aug 07 (APP):Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Haider Shirazi has directed authorities to keep machinery and staff on duty until the drainage process is complete.
During a visit to the Kawasa disposal station and affected areas on Wednesday, Shirazi ordered WASA officials to stay in the field and expedite drainage from low-lying areas. He also instructed assistant commissioners to be present in their respective tehsils and ensured that officers and teams from WASA and municipal committees are on the ground at all times.
The commissioner inspected key areas, including GT Road and Shamsi Underpass, and called for additional machinery to be deployed in high-traffic zones to prevent congestion. Traffic police personnel have been asked to remain on duty to ensure smooth traffic flow.
With urban flooding, storm drains, and the Chenab River posing a threat, all concerned departments have been put on high alert to protect human lives. Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures during the monsoon season.
