Commissioner calls for action on ‘Unregistered Religious Seminaries’

SARGODHA, Apr 09 (APP):A briefing session on the registration of religious seminaries was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Sargodha Division,Jahanzab Awan on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by Director Admin Religious Education Department,Syed Azhar,representatives from the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and other concerned departments.
Officials informed the meeting that under the new law,seminaries are no longer registered under the Societies Act while,the process was now overseen by the federally-administered Religious Education Department (RED).
It was further informed that registration forms are available at NCHD’s district offices and upon submission of complete documentation and a basic NOC from the district administration,seminaries are issued registration certificates by RED.
So far,RED has registered 18,400 seminaries across the country,including 275 in Sargodha,172 in Khushab,121 in Mianwali and 185 in Bhakkar.
The meeting also agreed on forming a joint working group comprising Deputy Commissioners,NCHD and the Religious Education Department(RED) to assist unregistered seminaries throughout the division in completing the registration process.
The Commissioner Jahanzab Awan has also requested detailed reports on all unregistered seminaries within the division.
