RAWALPINDI, Jul 29 (APP):Introduction of another discipline, SSC Tech at the Matric level education is going to boost the youth skills in their future careers. For the first time in Punjab’s history, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has taken a revolutionary step in the field of education by introducing new “Matric Tech” courses to skill up youth during their education.
Speaking to APP on Tuesday, District Education Officer (DEO) Dr. Gul Ahmad said that under the new educational vision of CM Maryam Nawaz, several significant initiatives have been undertaken, including the addition of new courses in secondary education (Matric). He elaborated that the matriculation level education along with Matric with traditional science and arts subjects, has now additional option of Matric with Technology, which includes course subjects such as ICT, agriculture, and fashion designing, with a curriculum developed and funds worth millions of rupees allocated annually. “For the first time, Matric Tech classes have started in 31 secondary educational institutions in Rawalpindi, and this new educational system has been appreciated by Rawalpindi’s citizens and teachers, who expressed their happiness over the Chief Minister’s initiative”, he said.
Dr. Gul Ahmad further stated that funds have already been transferred to Rawalpindi schools for establishing modern computer labs and fashion designing facilities. He added that the current government is not only providing traditional education but also equipping students with technical and vocational skills, which will not only increase enrollment but also attract out-of-school children to learn skills through these new Matric courses.
He observed that students completing these new Matric courses and becoming skilled will contribute to an increase in human resources.
To a question, he appreciated Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat for his cooperation and support in materializing the vision of diversified and standardized education in the province.
