CM Maryam for collective efforts to end violence against women

LAHORE, Nov 25 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that women deserve respect, dignity, and protection in every circumstance, and stressed that any form of violence or harassment against them is absolutely intolerable.
In her message on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, she said that the Punjab government is determined to make the province the safest place for women.
The chief minister highlighted that the Virtual Women Police Station, the Panic Button facility, and dedicated helplines are significant steps towards ensuring the security and empowerment of women. She said the Crime Control Department (CCD) remains fully active against those involved in harassment and added that robust measures are also essential to curb online harassment and hateful content targeting women on social media platforms.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that a society free from violence and safe for women is the foundation of true civilization and progress. She maintained that perpetrators of violence against women are cowards and criminals who will be dealt with an iron hand. She noted that technological initiatives such as the Virtual Women Police Station, panic button and helplines mark an important beginning in strengthening women’s protection across Punjab.
The CM emphasized that every segment of society must play its role in eliminating violence and harassment against women, adding that public awareness is crucial for lasting change. She said daughters can study, grow and thrive only in a secure, fear-free environment, and reiterated the government’s commitment to take concrete steps to safeguard women’s rights both offline and online.
