QUETTA, Nov 03 (APP): Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Monday to address the long-standing illegal occupation of the Chiltan Ghee Mill.
The meeting concluded with a decisive action plan to reclaim the government-owned facility and initiate strict legal proceedings against the encroachers.
“Government assets are a public trust; private occupation of them will not be tolerated at any cost,” Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
During the briefing, the Secretary of Industries outlined the key facts that the private company’s lease was officially terminated in 1992 due to a breach of contract.
Despite the termination, the company continued to occupy the mill unlawfully for over three decades.
He revealed that all legal appeals filed by the occupiers in the Supreme Court and High Court have been rejected.
The company owes the government of Balochistan more than Rs 230 million in unpaid dues.
Expressing strong displeasure over the prolonged encroachment, CM Sarfraz Bugti issued the orders that the Chiltan Ghee Mill should be sealed and brought under state custody without delay.
He directed that swift legal and administrative proceedings should be initiated against the illegal occupants and the Rs 230 million owed by the company must be recovered.
He emphasized that disciplinary action will be taken against any officials found negligent in handling the matter.
CM Sarfraz Bugti reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance on the misuse of public property, adding that government assets belong to the people and must be protected at all costs.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Provincial Minister for Industries Sardar Kohyar Khan Domki, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, the Advocate General Balochistan, Secretary Industries, Commissioner Quetta, Deputy Commissioner Quetta, and representatives from the Quetta Municipal Corporation.
