LAHORE, Dec 16 (APP):Lahore Police, in coordination with the district administration, have intensified action against violations of the Loudspeaker Act, arresting 1,357 people so far this year.
According to a police spokesperson on Tuesday, cases were registered across the city against the illegal use of loudspeakers in line with the Punjab government’s directives to maintain law and order. During the ongoing crackdown, 279 arrests were made in City Division, 280 in Cantonment, 290 in Saddar and 208 in Model Town divisions.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that the illegal use of loudspeakers would not be tolerated and that a strict zero-tolerance policy is being enforced. He clarified that the use of loudspeakers is permitted only for Azan and Friday sermons, while playing loud music at weddings and other events is completely banned.
The CCPO directed divisional officers to ensure close coordination with all stakeholders for effective implementation of the Loudspeaker Act and maintenance of peace in the city.
