Campaign ‘Grow More Wheat, Boost Yield’ in full swing in Murree District

RAWALPINDI, Nov 12 (APP):The campaign ‘Grow More Wheat, Boost Yield’ is continuing vigorously in the Murree District to enhance wheat production and create awareness among farmers about modern cultivation practices.
According to the Agriculture (Extension) Department, Punjab, the campaign, being run across the province, is also in full swing in Murree and Kotli Sattian tehsils.
“Various awareness sessions, field days and roadshows have been organised jointly by the Agriculture Extension Department and Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi,” a spokesman for the Agri Department said on Wednesday.
During the events, farmers were briefed on the importance of using certified seed, balanced fertilisers and proper seed treatment to achieve better yields.
Agricultural experts also guided the participants on modern farming methods, timely sowing and effective weed management.
Officers and staff of the Agriculture Department, along with students of the university, participated in the seminars, field demonstrations and awareness walks.
The experts emphasised that the use of certified seed, timely land preparation, balanced fertilisation and efficient water management could significantly increase per-acre yield.
The farmers appreciated the joint efforts of the Agriculture Extension Department, Murree, and the Arid Agriculture University, calling for the continuation of such awareness programmes in the future.
