Baseless propaganda against state fuels instability, violence: Balochistan CM

QUETTA, Jan 06 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has warned that baseless and misleading propaganda against the state fuels social discord, instability, and violence, stressing the urgent need for effective countermeasures.
Presiding over a meeting of the Board of Governance of the Balochistan Center of Excellence on Counter Violent Extremism in Quetta, Sarfraz Bugti highlighted the importance of guiding all segments of society particularly the youth towards factual realities.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqaat, Inspector General of Police Muhammad Tahir, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, DIG CTD Aetzaz Ahmed Goraya, DG Levies Abdul Ghaffar Magsi, and other senior officials.
Sarfraz Bugti said the Center of Excellence would serve as a strong platform for research, awareness, and counter-narratives, playing a vital role in curbing extremist tendencies and promoting positivity. He underlined that institutional cooperation, coordinated strategies, and modern approaches are essential to counter extremism effectively.
He added that fact-based narratives would be promoted through educational institutions and social media to shield the younger generation from misleading influences.
The Chief Minister emphasized that youth awareness and participation are indispensable for sustainable peace and order in the province. He reaffirmed that the provincial government is taking comprehensive steps to strengthen this process.
Participants also reviewed the law and order situation, ongoing counter-extremism initiatives, and future strategies. Relevant institutions were directed to adopt coordinated and effective measures to ensure lasting stability.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement on X, Sarfraz Bugti announced that the Levies Force has been fully merged into the police across Balochistan. He said the move resolves a long-standing administrative ambiguity and ensures uniform enforcement of law in the province.
Sarfraz Bugti added that the decision clarifies the state’s responsibilities and will significantly strengthen the framework for public safety and protection throughout Balochistan.
