QUETTA, Jun 13 (APP): The Balochistan government is actively working to operationalize various projects under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) framework, pursuing a comprehensive strategy to bring improvements across all sectors.
The sixth meeting of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Unit was held under the joint chairmanship of Balochistan’s Provincial Minister for Finance and Minerals, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, and Minister for Planning and Development, Mir Zahoor Buledi.
The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakar, Special Finance Secretary Jahangir Kakar, and other senior officials. Addressing the participants, Minister Nosherwani emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to public welfare and the provision of basic services, especially under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
He noted that various development projects are being finalized across the province under the PPP model, which he described as sustainable and beneficial for long-term public interest.
A key highlight of the session was the unanimous approval to increase the number of buses in the Quetta Green Bus Project, along with the green light for launching a similar project in Turbat. These initiatives aim to enhance modern and eco-friendly transportation services for the public.
Additionally, a proposal was discussed to transfer the administration of Fatima Jinnah Municipal Girls High School to a non-governmental partner on a voluntary basis, with the aim of improving educational standards and administrative performance.
Minister Nosherwani reiterated the government’s belief in PPP as an effective model for improving both transportation and education sectors. “The Green Bus Project is a major step towards convenient and environmentally-friendly travel for the public,” he stated, adding that efforts are being made to implement such projects on a sustainable basis.
Minister Zahoor Buledi highlighted that private sector involvement in development projects ensures transparency, higher quality, and faster execution. He said the launch of the Green Bus service in Turbat would benefit the local population and that NGO participation in managing educational institutions could become a successful model.
