MULTAN, Nov 03 (APP): A notorious criminal was injured and arrested after an exchange of fire with police near Bua Pur Mor within the jurisdiction of Bahauddin Zakariya Police Station.
The suspect was also found involved in incidents of harassing women in local neighborhoods.
According to police sources, late on the night of November 2, a police patrol was conducting routine checking and crime prevention duties at Bua Pur Mor when officers spotted a man approaching on a motorcycle. Finding his movements suspicious, police signaled him to stop.
Upon seeing the police, the suspect opened indiscriminate fire on the officers and attempted to flee on his motorcycle. However, he lost control, fell to the ground, and accidentally shot himself. The bullet hit his right hand. The arrested the accused Azhar s/o Mazhar and also recovered the weapon which contained five live rounds from his possession.
Police sources confirmed that the initial investigations revealed that he had been involved in multiple cases of street harassment targeting women in the area.
The injured suspect was shifted to Nishtar Hospital for medical treatment. Police have launched further investigations into his criminal activities.
