RAWALPINDI, Feb 01 (APP):The District Health Authority Rawalpindi is all set to launch a four-day anti-polio vaccination drive from February 2 to February 5, targeting over one million children under the age of five across the district. The campaign aims to administer oral polio vaccine (OPV) drops to ensure 100% coverage.
According to the details, a total of 5,188 teams have been deployed, including 4,731 mobile teams, 194 transit teams, and 263 fixed teams. Oversight will be provided by 225 Union Council Medical Officers (UCMOs) and 765 Area In-Charges (AICs).
The plan was finalized in a meeting which was held with the CEO Health Authority, Dr. Ehsan Ghani, in the chair, celebrating upon arrangements for the campaign’s successful execution, security measures, and enhanced field monitoring.
Dr. Waqar Ahmad, spokesman health authority informed APP that meeting conducted a detailed review of the micro-plan, team formations, union council-level targets, security plan, duty rosters, and daily monitoring mechanisms.
Dr. Ehsan Ghani issued firm directives, emphasizing that every child must be reached without exception, and no child should be deprived of the polio drops. He instructed all teams to perform their duties with punctuality, responsibility, and integrity, while field monitoring officers must remain present and submit daily performance reports for review.
Dr. Ghani stressed strict accountability, warning that any negligence, laxity, or lack of seriousness would result in severe departmental action against responsible officers and personnel.
To maximize reach, the Health Authority’s final plan includes house-to-house vaccination along with deployment of special polio teams at public places. Transit teams will operate at bus stands, railway stations, transit points, guest houses, and other high-traffic locations to vaccinate children from traveling families on a priority basis.
Dr. Ehsan Ghani described the complete eradication of polio as a national duty, calling for coordinated efforts, unified strategy, and continuous oversight from all institutions to achieve this goal.
The District Health Authority appealed to parents and guardians to fully cooperate with polio teams during the campaign by ensuring their children under five receive the drops.
