HARIPUR, Jul 08 (APP):The district administration of Haripur, under the directives of the provincial government, continues a comprehensive anti-encroachment operation across the district, targeting irrigation canals, civil water channels, and natural waterways to reclaim public land and protect water infrastructure.
As part of the ongoing campaign, a major operation was carried out in Bhamala under the supervision of the district administration, with support from the Revenue Department, Irrigation Department, and local police. During the operation, illegal permanent structures were demolished, and WAPDA-owned land encroached along the banks of Bhamala was successfully recovered.
Assistant Commissioner Khanpur, Dr. Tazeen Zafar, led a separate operation against illegal encroachments along the Haro River. The action resulted in the lawful removal of unauthorized occupations. The operation was conducted in the presence of officials from revenue, irrigation, WAPDA, and police departments.
Later, upon receiving reports of illegal soil dumping in the downstream spillway channel of Khanpur Dam, Dr. Zafar, accompanied by irrigation and revenue staff, conducted an on-site inspection. The responsible parties were summoned to the office, and further legal action was ordered through the Irrigation Department.
In addition, several individuals were arrested and handed over to the police for violating the ban imposed by the Deputy Commissioner on bathing in Khanpur Dam and other water bodies.
The district administration has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public resources, preserving natural waterways, and ensuring environmental protection through strict enforcement of laws against encroachments and related violations.
