SARGODHA, Nov 18 (APP): A progress review meeting on the public welfare initiatives launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was held at the DC Office Sargodha, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) Fahad Mahmood on Tuesday.
The meeting was convened on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Capt (R) Muhammad Waseem. Assistant Commissioners from all tehsils, senior officers from various departments, MD WASA Abubakar Umar, representatives from PHA, the Highway Department, and other relevant institutions attended the session.
The ADCR Fahad Mahmood directed that all open manholes be covered immediately and a robust strategy be implemented to prevent dog-bite incidents. He instructed strict action against private housing societies that fail to cover manholes.
The MD WASA was tasked with promptly identifying sewerage issues and ensuring the drainage of stagnant water. He informed the meeting that, according to the Chief Minister’s directives, all government hospitals in Sargodha district currently have an adequate supply of medicines.
Assistant Commissioners were ordered to conduct surprise morning and evening visits to hospitals to ensure that doctors do not prescribe medicines from outside. Clear instructions were also issued regarding improvement of hospital washrooms, maintaining cleanliness standards, regular inspections of medicine stores, corrections in road line-markings, installation of zebra crossings outside schools, and enforcement of traffic safety measures.
PHA was directed to improve the condition of all public parks, maintain green belts efficiently, and take strict action against individuals parking vehicles on them. Emphasis was placed on beautification of intersections and major points in the city, along with strict zero-tolerance enforcement against wall chalking.
Regarding price control, the ADCR said the timings of marriage halls and the one-dish policy would be strictly enforced, with heavy fines for violations. Special weekend field operations were also ordered.
FESCO authorities were directed to immediately fix hanging electricity wires, while Assistant Commissioners were assigned to coordinate with the relevant departments and supervise the work. Additional directives were issued on improving cleanliness at bus stands, ensuring daily functionality of filtration plants, regulating pushcart markets, accelerating anti-encroachment operations, ensuring fertilizer is sold at official prices, and conducting strict health inspections in schools.
He further instructed that all petrol pumps must provide clean washrooms, with separate facilities for women.
ADCR Fahad Mehmood stressed that continuous monitoring will be ensured so that the Chief Minister’s public welfare initiatives are effectively implemented across the district.
