HARIPUR, Jul 22 (APP):As monsoon rains continue to lash out the region, the Assistant Commissioners of Ghazi and Haripur on Tuesday carried out field visits to assess the situation on the ground and ensure timely safety measures are in place for the protection of citizens.
Assistant Commissioner Ghazi, Khola Tariq, visited Khalu Dara and surrounding areas, issuing high-alert directives to TMA Ghazi, health staff, and Rescue 1122. She instructed the TMA team to promptly remove garbage to maintain smooth drainage and prevent flooding in populated areas. Citizens were strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel, steer clear of hazardous locations such as water channels and landslide-prone spots, and keep a close eye on children to prevent accidents. “Ensure your own safety caution saves lives,” she emphasized.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Haripur, Muhammad Fasih Ishaq Abbasi, conducted inspections across various localities to keep people away from storm drains and seasonal waterways amid rising flood risks. During the visit, several nomadic children playing in rainwater streams were safely removed with the help of police. Local residents were also briefed to stay clear of dangerous spots during the monsoon season to prevent any loss of life.
Rescue 1122 teams have been deployed across both Ghazi and Haripur as a precautionary measure to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies.
Authorities continue to urge public cooperation in following safety guidelines and reporting any emergency situations promptly.
