76 Afghan nationals detained as Rawalpindi Police intensify search operations

RAWALPINDI, Nov 16 (APP): As part of ongoing enforcement under the National Action Plan (NAP), the Rawalpindi Police on Sunday carried out extensive search operations across the district, verifying over 1,700 individuals and detaining 76 Afghan nationals residing illegally.
A police spokesperson said the operations were conducted on the directions of City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani in the jurisdictions of the Kallar Syedan, Rawat, Gujar Khan, Chauntra, Dhamial, Kahuta, Jatli, Saddar Bairooni, Pirwadhai, Ratta Amral, Ganjmandi, City, Waris Khan, Banni, New Town, Sadiqabad, Wah Saddar, Naseerabad, Civil Lines, Morgah and Cantt police stations.
During the exercise, the police checked 1,375 houses, 412 shops and 28 hotels, while scrutinising the credentials of 1,709 individuals. They also inspected four scrap yards, three bus and truck stands and several rented properties.
Action was taken against those who had not registered tenancy details, with 21 cases filed under the relevant sections, the spokesperson added.
He said the operations aimed to maintain public order and curb criminal activity, adding that all available resources were being deployed to uphold the rule of law.
