MULTAN, Oct 30 (APP): Under the third phase of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s flagship Dhee Rani Programme, a grand mass wedding ceremony was held at the Sports Ground Multan, where more than 75 deserving couples tied the knot in a joyous event.
Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, Sohail Shaukat Butt, attended the event as chief guest. Addressing the ceremony, the minister described the Dhee Rani Programme as an unprecedented welfare initiative in Punjab’s history — a landmark of compassion and public service that will long be remembered. He said the initiative truly reflects Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s deep commitment to the welfare and dignity of the underprivileged.
The event was attended by Secretary Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Punjab, Javed Akhtar Mahmood; Deputy Commissioner Multan, Waseem Hamid Sindhu; SSP Operations, Haider Ali; Director Admin Social Welfare Punjab, Faiz Naeem Warraich; Director Programme Social Welfare Punjab, Muzzammil Yaar; Divisional Director Social Welfare Multan, Madam Umme Farwah Hamdani; Deputy Directors Iftikhar Butter and Abdul Aziz Khan; and Assistant Commissioners Abdul Sami Sheikh, Anum Saghir Bajwa, and Zahid Iqbal, along with other senior officials.
During the ceremony, the provincial minister, accompanied by parliamentarians and senior officers, met with the newlywed couples and presented them ATM cards worth Rs200,000 each as a marriage grant (Salami) on behalf of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The Punjab government also provided each couple with a bridal dress set, while a festive wedding feast was arranged for the couples and their families.
Among the married couples were one Christian couple and one differently-abled couple, reflecting the programme’s inclusive and compassionate spirit.
The Dhee Rani Programme, launched by CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to support underprivileged families by providing financial assistance for marriages and promoting social equality across Punjab.
