SIALKOT, Oct 23 (APP):Punjab Food Authority conducted inspections in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and adjoining areas, imposing fines worth Rs 332,000 on 41 food outlets, milk shops and marriage halls, while sealing four units over poor hygiene conditions.
According to a spokesperson for the authority, a total of 670 food points were inspected, 195 were served warning notices, and 375 litres of adulterated milk, 5 maunds of substandard meat, and over one maund of prohibited or unsafe food items were discarded.
He said poor sanitation arrangements, presence of flies in processing areas, and use of broken freezers for meat and dairy storage were observed at several eateries, while medical and training certificates of workers were missing.
The spokesperson added that early morning checking of 97,000 litres of milk was also carried out at various checkpoints. He said, on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a zero-tolerance policy was being enforced against those endangering public health.
