ISLAMABAD, Oct 29 (APP):The Islamabad district administration has intensified its daily anti-dengue operations as 33 new dengue cases were reported across the capital in the past 24 hours.
According to the latest surveillance report, field teams carried out spray operations in 1,140 houses and conducted fogging in 1,550 high-risk areas to control the spread of the virus.
Out of the total new cases, 14 were confirmed from rural zones while 19 emerged from urban sectors.
The report added that 55 dengue patients were currently under treatment in different hospitals of the city.
During inspections, dengue larvae were found positive at 230 locations and negative at 5 sites.
The administration stated that its teams were carrying out intensive operations in areas declared as high-risk zones to eliminate breeding sites of dengue mosquitoes.
A spokesman for the district administration said that all field staff have been directed to maintain continuous surveillance and ensure that every suspected site is inspected and treated.
Anti-dengue operations are being conducted in coordination with the health department and local bodies to cover both residential and commercial areas.
He said that special attention was being given to open water tanks, construction sites, and stagnant water pools, where larvae are commonly found. The administration teams are also visiting schools, markets, and public parks to check possible breeding spots.
According to the report, the campaign includes door-to-door inspections, larvicide application, and community awareness sessions. The staff was also collecting data daily to identify emerging hotspots based on case trends and environmental factors.
The administration emphasized that strict action would be taken against individuals or institutions violating dengue prevention Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). It said no leniency would be shown to those neglecting preventive measures such as water drainage, proper waste disposal, and cleanliness.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon instructed the assistant commissioners and health inspectors to personally supervise anti-dengue activities in their respective areas. They have been tasked to ensure that every complaint received through the dengue control helpline is promptly addressed.
The administration urged residents to support the field teams during inspections and spraying activities. Citizens have been advised to keep their surroundings clean, cover water containers, and avoid storing stagnant water in open spaces.
Public announcements and awareness drives were also being conducted to encourage community participation.
The administration believed that cooperation between residents and government teams was vital for controlling the spread of dengue in the capital.
The ongoing surveillance was part of the district’s broader strategy to curb the seasonal rise in dengue cases.
Health experts have warned that the risk remains high due to weather conditions conducive to mosquito breeding.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to maintaining round-the-clock monitoring and immediate response in affected zones.
It also assured that data-driven operations would continue until the city records a consistent decline in new cases.
