BAHAWALPUR, Jul 04 (APP):Thirty-one processions were taken out and 70 majalis were held in the district in connection with Muharram 8.
According to a spokesman for Bahawalpur police, under the security plan devised for maintaining peace and order , an adequate number of police personnel and volunteers were deployed across the district. “Over 1,200 police personnel including officials and 830 volunteers were deployed on the routes of the religious processions and places of majalis,” he said.
He said that the personnel of Dolphin Force, Elite Force, Special Branch and Traffic Police also performed their duties to provide security to the processions and majalis. “CCTV cameras, walk-through gates, jammers and other security devices were also installed on the routes of the processions and places of majalis,” he concluded
