RAWALPINDI, Feb 04 (APP): Rawalpindi Police have intensified a crackdown on kite sellers, arresting 12 suspects and seizing more than 2,000 kites along with 35 spools of kite string, police said on Wednesday.
According to police, Naseerabad Police detained a kite seller and recovered 1,600 kites and 10 spools of string.
Similarly, Wah Cantt Police arrested three kite sellers with 280 kites and 11 spools, while Waris Khan Police has taken six suspects into custody and seized 165 kites and 12 spools.
Additionally, Sadiqabad Police arrested a kite seller and recovered 15 kites and two spools of string, whereas Saddar Bairooni Police detained another suspect with 15 kites and a spool of string.
Separate cases have been registered against all the suspects and further investigation is in progress.
Police said kite flying had been declared a non-bailable offence due to the risks it poses to public safety.
City police Officer CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani said those involved in the dangerous practice of kite flying and its supply would be dealt with strictly and would not escape the law.
