RAWALPINDI, May 29 (APP):Two cops of the Rawalpindi Police were suspended on Thursday for on the charges of kidnapping and extorting money from a citizen.
According to the police spokesman, City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani took notice on the citizen’s complaint that he was riding on his motorcycle when the two policemen stopped him and took Rs 85,000 from him by misusing their power.
The Superintendent of Police Potohar conducted an inquiry and found the two officials guilty. A case has been registered against the accused in Civil Lines Police Station under the provisions of kidnapping and extortion.
One of the accused was posted at the Naseerabad Police Station and the other at the Crime Control Department (CCD.
One of the accused has been arrested. Both the cops have been suspended and departmental action has also been initiated against them.
CPO Hamdani warned the policemen that the misuse of authority, corruption or corruption would not be tolerated. Those involved in criminal activities or backing criminal elements had no place in the department, he added.
