LODHRAN, Oct 15 (APP): A balloting ceremony was held at Kanju Hall, Lodhran, to select beneficiaries for Super Seeder machines under the Chief Minister’s Punjab Clean Air Program, and 17 farmers were declared successful and will receive the machines at subsidized rates.
The ceremony was supervised by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lubna Nazir, Additional Director General of Agricultural Engineering Afzal Tahir, and Convener/Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Syed Waseem Hassan. Assistant Commissioner Iram Shehzadi, Deputy Director Agricultural Engineering Shakeel Anwar, Assistant Director Majid Hussain, and Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Malik Zafar were also present.
Out of 300 applications received, 158 were found eligible, and 17 were selected through balloting. Each successful farmer will receive a Super Seeder worth Rs1.34 million at a subsidized cost of Rs806,000—reflecting a 60 percent government subsidy.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lubna Nazir lauded the initiative as both farmer-friendly and environmentally responsible. She highlighted that the Super Seeder converts crop residues into organic fertilizer, eliminating the need for stubble burning and helping to reduce air pollution.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Syed Waseem Hassan said the process was conducted transparently, and that eligible applicants not selected this time would be placed on a waiting list for future consideration.
