FAISALABAD, Oct 31 (APP): The Civil Defence Department has sealed 12 shops and confiscated their refilling equipment on charge of illicit LPG decanting.
Civil Defense Officer Rana Abbas said that illegal LPG refilling in residential or congested areas poses a serious threat to human life and property.
He said that civil defense department initiated a vigorous campaign against illicit gas decanting by adopting zero-tolerance policy to ensure public safety.
He said that Civil Defense Enforcement Team remained active in the field on daily basis to prevent potential accidents and safeguard citizens’ lives.
These teams detected illicit gas decanting at 12 sites including Khizra Mor Satiana Road, Toll Tax Chowk Satiana Road, Machhli Farm Satiana Road, Khan Gas Traders Kakkoana Jaranwala Road, Babar Chowk Peoples Colony No.2, Kashmir Road, 204 Chak Road, Rajbah Road, Abdullahpur Jaranwala Road and Eden Orchard Lasani Pulli Road and sealed the shops in addition to confiscating refilling material.
He said that 5 shopkeepers including Younas Khan, Ali Hidayat, and Ali Faisal, Muhammad Asim and Rao Waseem were also booked on charge of tampering with seals and operating LPG business without authorization.
He said that volunteers from Punjab Civil Defence Resilience Corps also participated in the operations to assist in enforcement and ensure public safety.
This crackdown would continue in future and no one would be allowed to take the law into their hands, he added.
