ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 (APP): The weekly inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), decreased by 0.59 percent for the combined consumption group during the week ended on November 6, 2025, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Friday.
According to the PBS data, the SPI for the week under review was recorded at 333.55 points, down from 335.53 points last week. On a year-on-year basis, the SPI increased by 4.18 percent.
The weekly SPI with base year 2015-16=100 covers 17 urban centres and 51 essential items for all expenditure groups.
The SPI for the lowest consumption group (up to Rs17,732) decreased by 1.04 percent, falling to 327.73 points from 331.18 points last week.
The SPI for consumption groups of Rs17,733–22,888; Rs22,889–29,517; Rs29,518–44,175; and above Rs44,175 also fell by 0.93 percent, 0.74 percent, 0.66 percent, and 0.44 percent, respectively.
During the week, out of 51 items, prices of 18 (35.29%) items increased, 12 (23.53%) items decreased, and 21 (41.18%) items remained unchanged.
The major commodities registering an increase during the week included eggs (2.40%), bananas (2.32%), firewood (1.61%), diesel (1.12%), beef (0.93%), tea prepared (0.92%), petrol (0.91%), bread (0.55%), wheat flour (0.34%), powdered milk (0.31%), and cooking oil 5-litre tin (0.21%).
Items showing a decline in prices included tomatoes (37.93%), onions (4.88%), garlic (3.23%), pulse gram (1.58%), chicken (0.68%), sugar (0.64%), gur (0.60%), pulse masoor (0.55%), and LPG (0.15%).
On a year-on-year basis, major increases were observed in the prices of ladies sandal (55.62%), sugar (43.67%), gas charges for Q1 (29.85%), wheat flour (19.50%), gur (18.88%), firewood (14.25%), beef (14.09%), vegetable ghee 2.5kg (11.53%), onions (11.22%), vegetable ghee 1kg (9.79%), and diesel (9.29%).
Commodities witnessing a year-on-year decline included garlic (33.54%), pulse gram (29.82%), electricity charges for Q1 (26.26%), potatoes (22.32%), tomatoes (19.69%), tea (17.79%), pulse mash (15.52%), chicken (15.16%), LPG (9.14%), and pulse masoor (4.95%).
