SAPM Haroon, Sri Lankan Ministers reaffirm commitment to explore new opportunities

ISLAMABAD, Jan 29 (APP):Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation to benefit the peoples of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The affirmation was express during a meeting between Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Haroon Akhtar Khan  and a high-level ministerial delegation from Sri Lanka to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation across key economic sectors, said a news release.
The Sri Lankan delegation comprised Minister of Trade Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister of Industry Sunil Handunnetti, and Deputy Minister of Health  Muditha Hasanka, said a news release.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in industry and trade, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), business and investment, as well as technology and innovation. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to expanding mutually beneficial economic engagement.
SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan stated that, in line with the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the government is actively promoting regional economic cooperation to ensure sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
He emphasized that Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoy historic and brotherly relations rooted in mutual respect and trust.
Highlighting Pakistan’s strategic outlook, Haroon Akhtar Khan said that Pakistan aspires to transform its longstanding relationship with Sri Lanka into a comprehensive strategic economic partnership.
He added that the decades-old friendship between the two countries is now evolving into deeper economic collaboration, including in the digital economy and modern technologies.
Sri Lanka’s Minister of Trade noted that the friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka spans decades and is now taking concrete shape through enhanced economic cooperation.
The Sri Lankan Minister of Industry emphasized that both countries are opening new avenues in trade, investment, and industrial collaboration, while the Deputy Minister of Health highlighted the close and enduring people-to-people ties between the two nations.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation to benefit the peoples of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
