ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday closed bullish, gaining 1,646.79 points, a positive change of 0.97 percent, to settle at 171,960.65 points compared to 170,313.86 points on the previous trading day, according to PSX data.
During the session, the ready market witnessed a trading volume of 950.146 million shares with a traded value of Rs54.075 billion, against 1,068.512 million shares valuing Rs51.799 billion in the previous session. Market capitalization increased to Rs19.498 trillion from Rs19.377 trillion a day earlier.
Out of 482 active companies in the ready market, 217 advanced, 228 declined, while 37 remained unchanged.
TPL REIT Fund I topped the volume chart with 75.804 million shares, followed by Hascol Petroleum with 37.077 million shares and Siddiqsons Tin Plate Limited with 36.739 million shares.
The top gainers included Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited, which rose by Rs848.93 to close at Rs10,227.25, and Bhanero Textile Mills Limited, increasing by Rs64.57 to settle at Rs922.80.
On the losing side, Hoechst Pakistan Limited declined by Rs82.19 to close at Rs4,412.81, while PIA Holding Company Limited-B fell by Rs70.00 to close at Rs23,000.00.
In the futures market, turnover stood at 166.285 million shares with a traded value of Rs12.548 billion, compared to 222.330 million shares worth Rs12.532 billion in the previous session.
Out of 316 futures-market companies, 171 recorded gains, 142 declined, while three remained unchanged. Among futures contracts, PIAHCLA-Dec led with 19.772 million shares, followed by BOP-Dec with 10.260 million shares and PIBTL-Dec with 10.251 million shares.
In the futures market, the top gainers included ENGROH-Dec, which rose by Rs18.05 to close at Rs232.05, and ENGROH-Jan, increasing by Rs14.50 to settle at Rs232.00. On the losing side, PIOC-Jan declined by Rs21.30 to close at Rs402.33, while PIOC-DecB fell by Rs18.10 to close at Rs399.80.
