PSX sheds 579 points to close at 188,588 points

ISLAMABAD, Jan 26 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday witnessed bearish trend, losing 579.17 points, a decline of 0.31 percent, to close at 188,587.66 points compared to 189,166.83 points on the previous trading day, according to PSX data.
During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 870.446 million shares with a traded value of Rs 57.197 billion, against 877.559 million shares valuing Rs 58.594 billion in the previous session. Market capitalization declined to Rs 21.162 trillion from Rs 21.219 trillion a day earlier.
Out of 487 active companies in the ready market, 143 advanced, 298 declined, while 46 remained unchanged.
K-Electric Limited topped the volume chart with 172.826 million shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom with 37.147 million shares and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Limited with 28.997 million shares.
The top gainers included Nestle Pakistan Limited, which rose by Rs 206.12 to close at Rs 7,970.64, and Sazgar Engineering Works Limited, which increased by Rs 195.36 to settle at Rs 2,149.00.
On the losing side, PIA Holding Company Limited (B) declined by Rs 306.67 to close at Rs 21,003.33, while Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited fell by Rs 299.77 to close at Rs 27,600.23.
In the futures market, turnover stood at 374.873 million shares with a traded value of Rs 28.569 billion, compared to 184.493 million shares worth Rs 11.946 billion in the previous session. Out of 312 futures-market companies, 83 recorded gains, while 227 declined and two remained unchanged.
