PBIT delegation joins high-level engagements in Beijing

LAHORE, Sep 04 (APP):In a landmark step to deepen economic cooperation with China and unlock new avenues of bilateral investment, a high-powered delegation from Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) joined Pakistan’s federal leadership at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and the 2nd Pakistan–China B2B Investment Conference in Beijing.
The delegation was led by PBIT Chairman Muhammad Muntaha Ashraf, accompanied by PBIT CEO Imran Khawar and a team of investment professionals, according to PBIT spokesman here Thursday.
They stood alongside Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmed, Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik and other senior dignitaries to foster strategic partnerships and attract foreign direct investment into Pakistan.
The high-profile events convened over 800 eminent stakeholders from Pakistan and China, marking a significant milestone in bilateral economic cooperation. Discussions centered on strengthening commercial linkages, identifying priority sectors, and shaping new frameworks for sustainable growth.
Speaking at the events, PBIT Chairman Muhammad Muntaha Ashraf underscored Pakistan’s investor-friendly policies and highlighted Punjab’s vast potential in renewable energy, electronics, agriculture, information technology, and industrial development. He stressed that Chinese investment and joint ventures would play a catalytic role in accelerating Pakistan’s economic transformation, creating thousands of jobs, and boosting long-term prosperity.
The SCO Summit and B2B dialogues provided fertile ground for sector-specific discussions in renewable energy, electric vehicles, agritech, IT services, textiles, and food processing. The deliberations generated strong momentum for joint ventures, co-investment opportunities, follow-up business missions, and feasibility studies.
Reaffirming Punjab’s commitment to facilitating international investors, Chairman Ashraf emphasized the province’s readiness to extend tailored incentives and streamlined services through one-window operations. He termed Punjab’s active participation in these prestigious engagements as a milestone in advancing economic diplomacy and cementing Pakistan’s strategic partnership with China.
