SIALKOT, Jun 05 (APP): A meeting was recently held to launch the “Establishment of Material Testing Laboratories” project in Sialkot.
This initiative was a result of close collaboration between the Urban Unit, UNIDO, the Industries Department of Punjab, and the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
The President Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Ikram-ul-Haq met Nima Bahramalian, Industrial Development Expert from the Quality Infrastructure and Smart Production Division, Department of Digitalization, Technology and Innovation at UNIDO (Vienna); Badar-ul-Islam, National Program Coordinator at UNIDO Pakistan; and Qasar Wasique Ahmed, Enterprise Development Expert for the Materials Testing Laboratory Sialkot project.
It was informed that the project’s PC-1 had been approved and the costing vetted by the Communication & Works Department. With UNIDO’s technical assistance and supervision, the project was now set to enter the execution stage.
This initiative aimed to set up modern facility in Sambrial that will provide internationally accredited testing services for surgical instruments and fan cluster products. It represents a significant achievement, showcasing the synergy between the Sialkot Chamber and the Urban Unit.
Key stakeholders include the Planning & Development Board, Government of the Punjab; Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Government of Pakistan; UNIDO – United Nations Industrial Development Organization; and the Industries, Commerce and Investment Department, government of Punjab.
