Large-scale manufacturing grows by 10.54pc

The output of the Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) recorded a growth of 10.54 per cent during the month of January 2026 as compared to the same month of last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.

ISLAMABAD, Mar 17 (APP):The output of the Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) recorded a growth of 10.54 per cent during the month of January 2026 as compared to the same month of last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.

On a month-on-month basis, the LSMI production in January 2026 increased by 12.08 per cent when compared with December 2025, according to the PBS data.

Overall, the large-scale manufacturing sector posted a growth of 5.75 per cent during the period July–January 2025-26 as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

The provisional quantum index of Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) for January 2026, with the base year 2015-16, has been developed on the basis of latest data supplied by the source agencies.

The main contributors towards overall growth of 5.75% are Food (0.58), Tobacco (0.16), Textile (0.28) Garments (1.34), Paper & Board (-0.04), Petroleum Products (0.85), Chemicals (-0.11), Pharmaceuticals (-0.29), Cement (0.64), Iron & Steel Products (-0.22), Electrical Equipment (0.25), Machinery and Equipment (-0.07), Automobiles (1.61), Other transport Equipment (0.24), and Furniture (0.18).

The production in July-January 2025-26 as compared to July-January 2024-25 has increased in Food, Beverages, Tobacco, Textile, wearing apparel, Paper & Board, Coke & Petroleum Products, Rubber Products, Non Metallic Mineral Products, Fabricated Metal, Computer, electronics and Optical Products, Electrical Equipment, Automobiles and Other Transport Equipment while it Decreased in Leather Products, Paper & Board, Chemical Products, Pharmaceuticals, Iron & Steel Products and Machinery and Equipments.
