KPRA initiates enforcement activities in hospitality sector

PESHAWAR, Mar 27 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has initiated enforcement activities in the hospitality sector in Peshawar Region.
In pursuance of the directions of the Additional Collector, a team headed by the Deputy Collector (Non-Corporate) conducted visits to the business premises of two restaurants on Friday, where discrepancies in their tax declarations, including instances of misreporting, were identified and formally pointed out.
The KPRA team issued on spot show cause notices as well as sealing intimation notices in accordance with the relevant provisions of the KP Sales Tax on Services Act, 2022.
The management of the concerned businesses was clearly informed that KPRA shall not permit any entity to continue operations where amounts collected from customers in the name of tax are not duly reported and deposited into the government treasury.
A comprehensive enforcement plan has been devised under which record confiscation, strict monitoring, penalty imposition, and sealing actions shall be undertaken in accordance with the law.
