FAISALABAD, Nov 10 (APP):Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh has announced that a subcommittee would be formed under FCCI platform to identify issues faced by the exporters under Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) and present workable recommendations for their resolution.
He was addressing an awareness seminar on the EFS while Collector Customs Appraisement Faisalabad Dr. Rizwan Basharat and his team were also present on the occasion.
Farooq Yousaf Sheikh said that the government intends to enhance exports up to 60 billion dollars and introduction of EFS had contributed positively toward this goal. However, certain amendments made to the scheme in light of changing circumstances had led to operational challenges for exporters.
He said that FCCI has always been striving hard to strengthen relations between the government and the industrial sector to ensure smooth implementation of business-friendly policies.
He urged the exporters to submit their issues along with practical suggestions in writing to the chamber so that these could be effectively pursued at relevant forums for prompt solutions.
He said that FCCI has long demanded the government to consult actual stakeholders before finalizing decisions on business-related matters.
He highlighted the importance of dialogue and said that today’s awareness session is part of the same consultative process, where the exporters openly shared their concerns and the Collector Customs attentively listened to their recommendations and assured to convey the same to the higher authorities.
Farooq Yousaf Sheikh expressed optimism that the session would prove highly productive in paving the way for practical improvements in the EFS.
Earlier, Collector Customs Appraisement Dr. Rizwan Basharat stressed the need for joint review and assessment of the clauses and procedures under EFS that are causing difficulties for the exporters.
